I’ve seen so many versions of why the SRD vs DMR thing is going on, and why I’m to blame. I’ve also seen the smear campaign and personal attacks made against me in response to peoples claims that I am the reason DMR closed down. I think it’s time to set the record straight. And let you guys judge for yourselves. Not what the DMR ladies are promoting around the internet lately. But this is what some of the staff at DMR have decided to do, and I think it’s time to tell another side of the story, not just the one they are telling false information about. Mind you I shoulder some of the blame as to why there is still animosity, but in no way in hell is this stricly my fault or SRD’s fault alone. So sit back and go grab a drink, this may take a little while!

Let’s begin shall we. I’ve heard so many times this animosity I have for DMR started because of some templates. Ahh, the root of my evil plan to destroy DMR because SRD didn’t get them back in 2009-2010! This was brought up before by the same two people not so long ago, and I thought I made it pretty clear back then templates had nothing to do with what’s going on between SRD and DMR. Here is a link of my explanation to psugorilla as to why this template theory is just that, a theory and really just propoganda to make me look bad I suppose. My response to PSUGorilla

Good lord let’s squash this myth once and for all. DMR at the time Rioux Mods, came on the scene at least for me in 2009. I never paid attention to modding groups other than ss.net. I was more into online racing, and keeping up with SRD.

Anyway, DMR made an announcment at SRD made by sb70velle that there was going to be a COT mod build in 2010 by them. Naturally, the guys on the staff were interested as was I about these new guys building a mod. The staff got to talking and even though we were balls deep into our usual ss.net carset that year and building our first in house templates, I asked sb70velle about templates because everyone was excited about a new and different COT mod. See screenshot.

Screenshot

I’m going to refer to sb70velle aka sb70 as Todd from here on out. You guys should get the picture of who he is by now. Anyway, here’s his response back to me.

Screesnhot

At this point, I had already gone over to DMR’s boards and asked Jack about the templates as well. Sorry, I don’t have the pm’s from DMR. I assure you, it was the same question, and Jacks reply was as polite as could be. No problems at all. Jack responds to me a couple days later maybe, I don’t know at this point, its been a few years ago now. And he said that the DMR templates were being done in house, and they looked great, and he was excited about our interest and many other peoples interest as well. So, that was it. Jack and Todd both have said the templates were being done in house. No biggie, nothing to be upset about. I was asking because we were all curious about who this new modding group was and the fact there was going to be more templates to play with down the road. Todd p.m’s me one more time, and I respond to him politely, with no drama, no hurt feelings, nothing. See screenshot.

Screenshot

If anyone thinking rationally reading this can tell me that in any of those screenshots I seem upset that I didn’t get some templates, please, explain it to me! Because I don’t get where this theory came from at all!

Now, let’s get on with it yes? Here comes the bullshit from DMR that ultimately puts me in a state of go fuck yourself DMR. What I am about to explain is my first encounter of seeing a DMR staff member and some fanboys for me. Grab another drink, this is going to be good!

JJ announces he is closing up superspeedway.net. States “politics” is just ruining his fun for modding and needs to move on. Let me rephrase what JJ is saying, because the ultimate politician that JJ was he always took the high road at explaining things to other people. What JJ is saying, is this new group (Rioux Mods) and the constant jabs he is taking from them had finally wore on him and ultimately decided it’s time to move on. Don’t believe me? Here is the thread in which I post saying JJ has closed his doors. Take notice to a few names, fisha has a say so, and a few other guys I object to, but most noticably sb70velle, the ring leader in attacking whoever he doesn’t agree with. Over the years since dealing with him as many people can attest to, this is a rather obvious statement. JJ Closing Up Shop!

At this point, I can’t believe what I am reading. These guys are dragging JJ’s name right through the mud and kicking him while he is down. Holy shit! Is this what has become of the nr2003 community I say to myself! This is a guy who for years kept us online sim racing addicts with updated mods for us to enjoy! And this is the thanks he gets? Unacceptable to me! I refuse to listen to this anymore I say to myself. I had fun keeping the thread going, because anyone that knows me well enough knows I like a little conflict in my life. Let’s me know I’m alive! But that’s it. Time to shut it down and I’m not hearing anymore JJ/ss.net bashing. Having none of it!

Enter the release of the DMR 2010 COT mod and The Bullring 2010 COT mod. Released on the same day. I had no idea JJ went over to the bullring to finish up his last COT mod build. It was nice to see him still around and the mod he was working on got revamped and repolished by The Bullring. This was an online racers dream! We got 2 COT mods to choose from? Well, leagues can only run one, what should we run? Painting sites only have a certain amount of time to paint cars, which COT mod should we paint for? See where I am going with this? It’s only natural to have some animosity and some complaining. SRD STAYED OUT OF IT! I slightly, and I mean slilghtly got a taste of the bullshit involved with “modding groups” between DMR and The Bullring.

Ultimately I decided it’s not worth it to get involved with what’s going on. I pretty much got blown off by both groups anyway, so it’s not like I had a tough choice here. SRD stuck with if you remember the ss.net COT Mod 1.04. The only new COT Mod that we heard was being built was DMR’s. But since we had no access to anything, or any information, we were going to continue with our plan to make a 2010 Daytona carset with the ss.net COT Mod.

Then the bashing started. If you recall, and if you can’t, here’s your first taste of DMR drama. At the time, there was 2 other groups helping DMR. BCR and Om3ga. These guys were relentless beating up on The Bullring. I mean you couldn’t blink and you would see bobby childs,bobbyp,ColFork,SMOKE-OR,sb70 and Denis all taking shots at them. The Bullring stayed quiet. More and more over the first couple of months after the release of the two COT mods, DMR’s guys (Staff and fans alike) all had a good ole time making fun of the work that The Bullring did. The Bullring stayed quiet. During all of this, Jack (SMOKE-OR) makes a remark in a thread at SRD I think it was at about cut throat tactics by another group. I p.m’d Jack and asked him who he is talking about, because I’m thinking I have been more than reasonable with supporting both COT mod’s even though one group has decided to go down a road I do not care for. I ask Smoke-OR if he is referring to my site about these cut throat tactics? Because without a doubt, and anyone who knows me can attest to this, I have been biting my tongue staying out of this drama. I want to stay out of it, but this crap that’s going on is getting out of control. So, here is the p.m. I also give him the reason we stuck with ss.net as well. This should clear up a lot of why I am taking SRD in the direction of not supporting DMR. See screenshot. Start at the bottom and work your way up, makes more sense that way.

Screenshot

The cheap shots at JJ and The Bullring continue, and I have now reached a point that this cannot go on. I was aware of Bobby Childs massive ego dealing with him and his god like templates, and to compound that problem now, the mod gods of Denis,sb70 have ego’s even bigger than Bobby’s. I’m telling myself, this is enough. I have had enough of the bashing of other peoples work, I have had enough of seeing these guys stroke their own ego’s. I’m not having it anymore. Someone needs to speak up and put these guys in their place! I’ll be that guy I’ll be their huckleberry! Enough is enough I say. What can I do about it? Well, what does an egomanic need more than anything? He needs it stroked. Well I’ll be damned if a site that I pay the bills for is going to contribute to that ego trip. No more stroking that DMR ego. The fun is over for them. They are no longer going to have my site to help fuel their ego’s.

This is where it get’s ugly everyone. I’m not going to lie, it gets nasty. I have had enough of all the guys from DMR that I named running their mouths about other peoples work and how great theirs is, and how crappy everyone else’s work is. This is a hobby for a lot of us. Were not in this for competition. Were doing this because we like painting/modding this racing sim. These guys from DMR look at this as if were all inferior to them. So I start telling SRD members, that it’s a good idea if you want to show off DMR work, that you should go to their place to show it off. Were not supporting DMR here anymore. I continue down this path and it get’s ugly. Very ugly. Do a search for DMR at the SRD boards, you’ll see what I mean. But you know what, I don’t care any longer. They want to act like assholes, that’s just fine, SRD is publicly not supporting that attitude. It get’s to a point where I just flat out ban DMR mod’s at my site. And it is just killing their ego’s. I mean, they have sticky threads bashing me, the staff, the SRD members, you name it, they are attacking it. I start banning people at my site over disagreements we may have over anything really. And within a 24 hour period of being banned for whatever reason, DMR has now found a forever loyal DMR supporter! “To hell with SRD! They banned me, and I fully support you guys now!” lol. You can see how this can fuel the animosity now can’t you? Think I’m full of it? Just see the most vocal SRD bashers at the DMR boards, and when they first started being active at DMR. That’s right, they get banned from SRD, and go running to DMR. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened over the years.

So there is the background to the DMR ban. I have screenshots of these guys bashing The Bullrings work, bashing SRD, and anyone else that was in their path of destruction. That’s in Part II But for now, you can either believe what I am saying, or I have made all this up in my head. Some of you reading this know and probably have a screenshot or two of what I have been referring to. Others who don’t know the story or the background, well you may think I am just full of shit. And that’s fine. I can’t beat you over the head and make you beleive me. It’s your choice.

Now, the ladies at DMR are telling another lie that I’ve seen the past couple of weeks since Denis closed up shop about the “peace talks” that happened during all of this drama. I’ll make this part a whole lot shorter for you. JJ leaves The Bullring shortly after the release of the Sprint Cup 2010 mod and he decided to reopen superspeedway.net. JJ then asks me if SRD would want to help him do a Nationwide Mod. I think we all know the answer I gave him! We both start talking, and one thing leads to another, and I tell him I need to make peace with the community. Everyone. I’ve had words with a lot of different people over the years, and I want to squash it all. Start a new chapter.

Enter me going into the lions den (DMR). I sign up, tell the DMR boards that I have come in peace, and would like to squash the hostility and could we all meet at a forum and discuss the animosity and move on from it. I of course get attacked by Todd and a few other DMR members although a lot nicer, are making posts that sound extremely skeptical of why I am there. I expected the treatment I got, although classless, it was expected. So JJ and I meet with the guys from DMR. And here is the whole talks everyone. Not some bullshit I see Todd and psumonkeyballs feeding everyone about outlandish demands and that I demand we can only have a NWS mod, and Todd must be removed from the DMR crew. Read it if you want, and make up your own mind on how the talks went.

This is what I have to say about the talks. It was painfully obvious Denis has no clue on how to lead a group of individuals. It was also painfully obvious that no matter what was said, DMR’s ego’s got in the way of just trying to keep peace between the groups. The talks ended with Smoke-OR showing me and JJ the kind of ego’s we were dealing with, and ultimately we decided not to say another word. It was pointless, and a complete waste of everyone’s time. It was a good idea to think we could have 3 groups do different mods so that the community could be better for it. I was also just amazed that not one person even cared about trying to squash the bickering. That’s all I really wanted. The idea of each group doing a mod was a long shot in my mind. My biggest accomplishment going into these talks was to just stop the bashing and bickering. Everyone was tired of it.

The talks obviously didn’t work, the DMR ban at SRD continued. You can choose to either belive what I am saying, or not. That’s the story. For better or worse, agree or disagree with my decisions, that’s the honest to god truth. I think all the screenshots I’ve shown support what I have just told you about this whole ordeal.

Here’s the talks, as I said before, you can make up your own mind on all of this.
